Here’s a quick little addition to my animation script collection that I’m (veeeeery) slowly starting to build up. All this script does, really, is make the oh-so-hated-and-feared transition from stepped keys to spline a bit easier. What it does is simply set all the key’s tangents to a certain mode (flat or spline) depending on their relation to keys around them

Using Maya’s inbuilt timeline function, “Add/Remove Inbetween”, which basically works like a Ripple tool you’d know from a video editing package, I found that I needed to adapt it to my workflow by modifying the original script. Read on for a description of what it does, maybe you’ll like it!

Following last week’s … uhm…desaster, this week turned out to be a lot more fun. Not only because I enjoyed the subject matter more, but also because certain time constraints forced me to excercise stricter time management, ultimately leading to a very relaxed work pace

Autodesk has recently started posting ‘Tech Previews’ on their community website The Area, showcasing current research and samples of goodies that could make into the next installment of Maya (2012).
One of these previews shows a feature that has long been missing from Maya, and that is Keyframe/Spline Editing inside the viewport in the form of an editable motion trail
